CA Foundation Syllabus 2024: Subjects, Marks and Weightage

CA Foundation Syllabus

The new CA Foundation Syllabus 2024, announced by ICAI, will be followed in the upcoming June 2024 CA Foundation exam. The foundation exam is being conducted for the first time under the revised plan implemented last year. 

In India, passing the CA Foundation test opens doors to the esteemed field of chartered accounting. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducts the test for students who have finished their 12th grade and want to work as chartered accountants.

Candidates must fully understand the CA Foundation Course Syllabus and test pattern to design a successful exam strategy. Students should be aware of the format, which includes the kind of questions, subjects covered, the scoring system, and the duration of the national test. 

The institute has decided that from May/June 2024 onwards, the foundation course examination will be held thrice a year, in May/June, September, and January, instead of twice a year. CA Foundation Course Syllabus can also be found on the official website

CA Foundation Details For Exams

The 2024 CA Foundation exam has four papers. Papers 1 and 2 are subjective, and Papers 3 and 4 are objective. Each paper has 100 possible marks, for a total of 400 possible marks for the whole CA Foundation exam.

Only objective papers are subject to negative marking, which deducts one-fourth of a point for each incorrect response. Except for Section (b) of Paper 2, which requires responses in English, applicants can pick between Hindi and English during the offline exam. 

Duration of the exam Paper 1 and 2 will be of 3 hours and Paper 3 and 4 will be of 2 hours.
